FDI Into Vietnam Rises 6.5% in Q1
Foreign direct investment into Vietnam increased 6.5 percent from a year earlier to USD 4.1 billion in January-March of 2021. Additionally, FDI pledges, which indicate the size of future FDI disbursements, surged 18.5 percent in the year to USD 10.13 billion. The manufacturing and processing sector is set to receive the largest amount of investment (72.3 percent of total pledges) followed by real estate business activities (14.6 percent), and electricity production and distribution (6.4 percent). Singapore was the top source of FDI pledges in the period, followed by Japan and China.

Foreign direct investment into Vietnam increased 2 percent from a year earlier to USD 2.5 billion in January-February of 2021.
