Uruguay Manufacturing Output Rebounds in December
Manufacturing production in Uruguay rose by 1.1% year-on-year in December of 2022, recovering from a 5.2% contraction, the steepest since November 2020 in the previous month. The largest positive contribution came from food products (5.8 percent), followed by oil refineries (34.1 percent), and computer, electronic and optical products (40.8 percent). On the other hand, the main negative contributions came from rubber and plastic products (-18.8 percent) and metal derivative products, except machinery and equipment (-23.4 percent). Considering the twelve months of 2022, manufacturing production expanded by 3.6 percent.

Uruguay Manufacturing Production Contracts Most in 2 Years
Manufacturing production in Uruguay shrank by 5.9% year-on-year in November of 2022, the steepest monthly decrease since November of 2020. The largest negative contribution came from metal production (-22%), followed by pharmaceutical products (-21.6 percent). Output also fell significantly for wood & wood products (-21%) and basic metals (-14.6%). Considering the first eleven months of the year, manufacturing output grew 3.9% compared to the same period of the previous year.
