Turkey Tourism Revenues Continue to Rise
Tourism revenues in Turkey jumped 95 percent year-on-year to $7.63 billion in the last quarter of 2021, of which 80.1 percent came from foreign visitors and 19.9 percent from citizens resident abroad, mainly for personal or package tours. The average expenditure per night was $63. Considering full 2021, tourism revenues jumped 103% to $24.48 billion.

Tourism revenues in Turkey jumped 182 percent to $11.4 billion in the third quarter of 2021, compared to a year ago, of which 78 percent came from foreign visitors and 22 percent from citizens resident abroad. The average expenditure per night was $74 and visitors came to Turkey mostly for travel, entertainment, sports and cultural activities. In the previous quarter, the tourism revenue was $3 billion.

Turkish Tourism Revenues Rebound in Q2
Tourism revenues in Turkey increased to $3 billion in the second quarter of 2021, compared with $2.45 billion in the previous period and $8 billion in Q2 2019. Data for Q2 2020 is not available due to coronavirus-related border closures. From April to June 2021, 73.1% of total income came from from foreign visitors and 26.9% from citizens resident abroad. The average expenditure per night was $57 and visitors came to Turkey mostly for travel, entertainment, sports and cultural activities.
