Car sales in Thailand jumped 25.47 percent from a year earlier to 74,295 units in March of 2021, after a 10.9 percent plunge in the previous month, helped by government stimulus. The increase came a month before a third wave of coronavirus infections hit the country.

Car sales in Thailand fell by 13.64 percent from a year earlier to 58,960 units in February of 2021, after a 21.3 percent plunge in the previous month, due to a second wave of coronavirus infections late last year. The virus outbreak emerged in the middle of December last year, when car sales increase for a second month, up 11.3 percent year-on-year. Meanwhile, exports of cars dropped 16.52 percent from a year earlier to 79,470 units in February. Considering the first two months of the year, car sales tumbled by 18.43 percent to 114,168 units. For 2021, car sales are forecast to drop 5.3 percent to 750,000 units, after last year’s 21.4 percent plunge, due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Car sales in Thailand tumbled by 21.3 percent from a year earlier to 55,208 units in January of 2021, snapping two months of gains, due to a second wave of coronavirus infections late last year. The virus outbreak emerged in the middle of December last year, when car sales increase for a second month, up 11.3 percent year-on-year.
