Swedish Retail Sales Fall for 3rd Month
Retail sales in Sweden fell 0.6 percent month-over-month in July 2022, after a revised 1.5 percent drop in the previous month. This was the third straight month of fall in retail trade, with sales of durable goods down for the sixth month running (-1.8 percent vs -2.6 percent in June). At the same time, sales of consumables, excluding state-owned alcohol monopoly grew at a softer rate (0.6 percent vs 1.0 percent). On a yearly basis, retail trade shrank 3.9 percent in July, the third consecutive month of decrease, after a revised 4.1 percent decline in June.

Swedish Retail Sales Decline Further
Retail sales in Sweden fell 1.2 percent month-over-month in June 2022, after a 0.7 percent drop in the previous month. This was the second straight month of fall in retail trade, amid a steeper decline in sales of durable goods (-2 percent vs -0.7 percent in May). In contrast, sales of consumables, excluding state-owned alcohol monopoly bounced back (1.4 percent vs -1.2 percent). On a yearly basis, retail trade shrank 3.6 percent in June, after a 2.0 percent decrease in May.

Swedish Retail Sales Drop for 1st Time in 5 Months
Sweden’s retail trade fell 0.6 percent from a month earlier in May 2022, reversing from a 0.4 percent growth in the previous month. It was the first decline in retail trade since last December, as sales in consumables, excluding state-owned alcohol monopoly dropped by 1.3 percent while those in durable goods declined by 0.3 percent. On a yearly basis, retail trade went down 2.3 percent, after a 2.4 percent growth in the previous month.
