Sweden’s gross domestic product shrank by 0.2 percent from a month earlier in March 2023, marking its second consecutive decline after an upwardly revised 1.1 percent contraction in February. On a yearly basis, the economy went down 0.7 percent, reversing a 0.1 percent expansion in the previous month.

Households' finances have been squeezed due to the combination of high inflation and rising interest rates.
