Among key markets, arrivals increased from Croatia (67.9 percent), Italy (58.6 percent), Austria (48.2 percent) and Serbia (79.9 percent). At the same time, overnight stays went up 13.7 percent to 792,343. The largest share of tourist overnight stays was recorded in mountain resorts (34 percent), followed by spa resorts (30 percent), the capital (12 percent) and seaside municipalities (9 percent).

Slovenia Tourist Arrivals Climbs 48.5% YoY in January
Tourist arrivals in Slovenia jumped 48.5 percent year-on-year to 277,025 in January of 2023, following a 0.9 percent gain in the prior month. The number of domestic tourists rose 8.2 percent to 100,099, while the number of foreign tourists climbed 88.1 percent to 176,926. Among foreigners, arrivals increased from Croatia (56 percent), Italy (240.9 percent), Serbia (110.1 percent), Austria (93.4 percent) and Hungary (22.7 percent). In addition, overnight stays went up 38.3 percent from a year earlier to 780,694 in January. The highest number of tourist overnight stays was recorded in spa resorts (51.8 percent), followed by seaside resorts (33.2 percent) and mountain resorts (17 percent).

Slovenia Tourist Arrivals Rebounds at 0.9% YoY in December
Tourist arrivals in Slovenia advanced 0.9 percent year-on-year to 297,734 in December of 2022, rebounding from an upwardly revised 5.15 percent fall in the previous month. The number of domestic tourists dropped 46.5 percent to 113,996, while the number of foreign tourist arrivals jumped 123.4 percent to 183,738. Most of foreign tourists came from Italy (30.5 percent), Croatia (12 percent), Austria (11 percent), Germany (11 percent), and Serbia (5 percent). Meantime, most of overnight stays were in hotels (57 percent), followed by private rooms, apartments & houses (19 percent). In 2022, a total of 3,935,608 foreign tourists visited Slovenia, up from only 1,832,466 in the previous year.
