Portugal’s retail trade rose by 3.4 percent year-on-year in October of 2021, accelerating from an upwardly revised 2.8 percent in the previous month. Sales growth advanced for non-food stores (4.6 percent vs 3.4 percent in September), while retail in food stores rose at a constant rate (at 2 percent). On a monthly basis, retail sales went up by 2.3 percent, following a downwardly revised 1.4 percent in the prior month.

Portugal Retail Sales Growth Slows in September
Portugal’s retail trade edged down by 2.7 percent year-on-year in September of 2021, slowing from an upwardly revised 3.5 percent rise in the previous month. Sales slowed for both food stores (2.1 percent vs 3.8 percent in August), and non-food stores (3.2 percent vs 3.3 percent). On a monthly basis, retail sales went up 1.5 percent, following a downwardly revised 0.5 percent in the prior month.
