At the domestic level, the Monthly Indicator of Economic Activity registered 1.6% year-on-year increase in November, mostly led by growth in agriculture and electricity generation. On the price front, monthly inflation was down 0.2% in December, while prices rose 8.1% year-on-year. The Committee's inflation expectations remained at 5% for 2023, still above its 4% target in the monetary policy’s horizon.

The Central Bank of Paraguay unanimously held its policy rate at 8.5% for the third consecutive decision in its December 2022 meeting, and stated it would continue to make future decisions dependent on the latest data. The Monetary Policy Committee stated that inflation trajectories are in line with the body’s latest projections, holding year-end forecasts for 2022 at 8.6% after the latest data pointed to an annual price growth of 8.3% in November. Still, the central bank noted that inflation is expected to fall below its 4% target in the monetary policy’s horizon.
