It marks the fastest expansion since 2019 when the economy grew by 5.6%, mainly driven by the agricultural sector (6.2% vs 5.5% in 2021), boosted by crop and animal production (6.9% vs 6.1%). Significant positive contributions also came from other sectors such as education (7.1% vs 2.2%); transportation & storage (6.9% vs 3.1%), information & communication (6% vs 5.4%); finance & insurance (6.1% vs 4.8%); accommodation & foods services (5.8% vs 1.3%) and manufacturing (5.8% vs 3.7%). source: Reserve Bank of Malawi
