Visitor arrivals in Macau surged 7098.8% percent year-on-year to 794,819 in April of 2021, following a 255.4 percent growth in the previous month, the third consecutive month of increases and the largest inflow of visitors since the onset of the pandemic. Overnight visitors and same-day visitors soared 6959.0 percent and 7290.3 percent, respectively. Visitors from Mainland China were up 6861.3 percent to 730,934, with 300,467 traveling under the Individual Visit Scheme. Meantime, tourists from Hong Kong rebounded to 56,760 (a 17,204.9 percent increase), while Taiwanese visitors rose to 7,091 (a 3,276.7 percent growth).

Macau Tourist Arrivals Rise Faster in March
Visitor arrivals in Macau soared 255.4 percent year-on-year to 754,541 in March of 2021, after a 173.1 percent surge in the previous month, the second consecutive month of increases as the Macanese government allowed foreign tourists into Macau for the first time since the pandemic halted international travel last year. Overnight visitors and same-day visitors soared 221.6 percent and 304.6 percent, respectively. Visitors from Mainland China were up 674.4 percent to 688,353, with 268,302 traveling under the Individual Visit Scheme (up 3,838 percent from last year). Meantime, tourists from Taiwan rose by 56.5 percent 7,183, while Hong Kong visitors slumped 47.1 percent to 58,953.

Macau Tourist Arrivals Rise for 1st Time in 16 Months
Visitor arrivals in Macau surged 173.1 percent year-on-year to 427,122 in February 2021, after an 80.5 percent plunge in the previous month, the first annual increase in tourist arrivals since October of 2019. Overnight visitors and same-day visitors soared 225.8 percent and 124.2 percent, respectively. Visitors from China were up 426.4 percent to 380,649, with 163,157 traveling under the Individual Visit Scheme (up 2,702.4 percent from last year). Meantime, tourists from Taiwan rose by 7.4 percent, while Hong Kong visitors slumped 35.9 percent.
