Hungary recorded a trade surplus of EUR 899 million in March 2023, shifting from a deficit of EUR 820 million in the same month a year earlier, preliminary estimates showed. Exports climbed 16.5 percent year-on-year to EUR 14,111 million, while imports increased 2.1 percent to EUR 13,212 million. In addition, the share of EU Member States were 78 percent in exports and 69 percent in imports.

Hungary Trade Surplus Revised Higher
Hungary posted a trade surplus of EUR 581 million in February 2023, from a preliminary estimate of EUR 513 million, and compared to a deficit of EUR 236 million in the corresponding month of the previous year. This was the first trade surplus since June 2021, as exports rose more than imports. Exports grew by 12 percent year-on-year to EUR 12,632 million, while imports advanced at a slower 4.3 percent to EUR 12,119 million. Moreover, the share of EU Member States were 78 percent in exports and 68 percent in imports.
