The increase was due to an increase of 7.6 thousand in unemployment of the younger population aged below 25 years. On the other hand, joblessness in the population aged 25 to 49 fell by 1.1 thousand to 1.640 million, and that in the population aged 50 or older fell by 300 hundred people to 803.2 thousand.
