It was also the largest monthly increase in unemployment levels since a record 812.5 thousand jump seen in April 2020, as new coronavirus-induced restrictive measures hit the labor market. Among the different age categories, unemployment in the population aged 25 to 49 advanced by 35.4 thousand to 2.134 million, and that in the younger population was up by 16.4 thousand to 0.509 million.
