Finnish Leading Index Rises for 14th Month
Finland's gross domestic product expanded by 4.0 percent year-on-year in April of 2022, after a downwardly revised 5.0 percent gain in the prior month which was the steepest pace since June 2021. Still, the latest figure marked the 14th straight month of increase in economic activity, with the service sector moderating (3.36 percent vs 5.08 percent in March) while manufacturing output growth was almost unchanged (5.36 percent vs 5.35 percent). Meantime, there was a sharp rebound in agriculture, forestry, and fishing production (5.52 percent vs -1.11 percent).

Finnish Leading Index Rises to 9-Month High
Finland's gross domestic product expanded by 5.40 percent year-on-year in March of 2022, the most since June 2021, and after an upwardly revised 3.62 percent gain in the prior month. The latest figure also marked the 13th straight month of increase in economic activity, mainly supported by a faster rise in the service sector (5.41 percent vs 2.42 percent in February). Meantime, manufacturing output growth eased (6.16 percent vs 7.17 percent), while agriculture, forestry, and fishing production fell further (-3.56 percent vs -3.52 percent).
