Eurozone Services Sentiment Strongest in Almost a Year
The services confidence indicator in the Euro Area climbed 7.7 points from the previous month to -9.3 in March 2021, its highest level since April last year and above market expectations of -14.4. It was the first sharp pick-up in morale since September 2020, driven by managers’ much more optimistic demand expectations and, to a lesser extent, more positive views on the past business situation and past demand.

The services confidence indicator in the Euro Area picked up to -17.1 in February 2021, up from -17.7 in the previous month and above market expectations of -18.1, driven by managers’ more positive assessment of the past business situation and improved demand expectations. Meanwhile, firms' assessment of past demand remained virtually unchanged compared to January.

The services confidence indicator in the Euro Area went down 0.7 points to a six-month low of -17.8 in January of 2021, above market expectations of -18.8, due to worsened assessments of the past business situation and, to a lesser extent, past and expected demand.
