Estonia's unemployment rate declined to 5.2 percent in the fourth quarter of 2021 from 7.4 percent in the corresponding period last year. It was the lowest jobless rate since the first quarter 2020, as the number of unemployed decreased by 3.6 thousand to 36.3 thousand while the number of employed increased by 2.1 thousand to 659.7 thousand. The labor force participation rate dropped to 71.3 percent from 72.4 percent in the same period of 2020 while the employment rate advanced to 67.6 percent from 67.0 percent. In the third quarter 2021, the jobless rate was at 5.7 percent. For the whole year of 2021, the unemployment rate was at 6.2 percent, down from 6.8 percent in 2020.

It was the lowest jobless rate since the first quarter 2020, as the number of unemployed decreased by 14.4 thousand to 39.9 thousand while the number of employed increased by 4.9 thousand to 657.6 thousand. The labor force participation rate declined to 71.5 percent from 71.8 percent in the same period of 2020 while the employment rate advanced to 67.4 percent from 66.3 percent.
