Egypt is the third largest economy in the Arab world. Services are the most important sector of the economy and account for around 47.5 percent of total GDP. The most important segments within Services are Wholesale and Retail Trade (10 percent of the output), Government (9 percent), Transportation and Communication (8 percent), Finance, Insurance and Real Estate (8 percent) and Tourism (4 percent). Industry constitutes 30 percent of the output and the largest segments within this sector are: Manufacturing (15.5 percent) and Extraction (13.5 percent).
