Cuba's economy is estimated to have grown by 2% in 2022, according to the Ministry of Economy and Planning. This is half of what it had previously predicted of 4% and down 8% from the pre-pandemic level. Economy Minister Alejandro Gil said that growth was fueled by a modest increase in tourism and free social services from pandemic lows in 2022, despite harsh U.S. sanctions targeting both travel and business.
