Chile Jobless Rate Falls More than Expected
Chile’s unemployment rate fell to 8.5 percent in the three months to August of 2021, from 12.9 percent in the corresponding period of the previous year and compared to market expectations of 8.6 percent. It is the lowest reading since March of 2020, as the number of unemployed slumped 27.6 percent to 771.9 thousand, while the number of employed jumped 14.8 percent to 8.26 million. At the same time, the labour force increased by 9.4 percent to 9.03 million.

Chile Jobless Rate Falls to 16-Month Low
Chile’s unemployment rate dropped to 8.9 percent in the three months to July of 2021, from 13.1 percent in the corresponding period of the previous year. It is the lowest reading since March of 2020, as the number of unemployed fell by 25 percent to 799 thousand, while the number of employed rose by 15.2 percent to 8.15 million. At the same time, labour force increased by 9.9 percent to 8.95 million.
