Brazil Car Sales Ease in August
Auto sales in Brazil fell by 1.5 percent over a month to 172 thousand units sold in August of 2021, easing from a 3.8 decrease in July. Sales of light vehicles decreased by 2.2 percent to 159 thousand units, while sales of trucks conversely rose by 8.1 percent to 13 thousand units. Year-on-year, vehicle sales decreased by 5.8 percent.

Brazil auto sales fell 3.8 percent month-over-month to 175 thousand units in July of 2021, following a 3.3 percent decrease the previous month. At the same time, exports of vehicles slipped 29 percent to 23.8 thousand in July. Year-on-year, new vehicle registrations shrank 29.1 percent.
