Azerbaijan's gross domestic product contracted 1.5 percent year-on-year in January of 2023, from a 5.8 percent growth in the same period last year. The non-oil and gas sector advanced 1.7 percent, while the oil and gas sector shrank 4.6 percent. From the production side, the strongest contributions came from industries (52.8 percent) and retail trade (9.5 percent).
