Ukraine Unemployment Rate at 5-1/2-Year Low
The jobless rate in Ukraine decreased to 7.8 percent in the second quarter of 2019 from 8.3 percent in the same period a year earlier and compared with 9.2 percent in the previous three-month period. It was the lowest unemployment rate since the last quarter of 2013, as unemployed persons fell by 235 thousand from the prior period to 1.41 million and employment rose by 448 thousand to 16.71 million.
Ukraine Unemployment Rate Falls to 9.3% in Q4
The jobless rate in Ukraine decreased to 9.3 percent in the fourth quarter of 2018 from 9.9 percent in the corresponding period of the previous year. The number of unemployed fell by 94.9 thousand to 1.67 million and employment rose by 262.9 thousand to 16.22 million. Among genders, the unemployment rate was lower for woman (8 percent from 9 percent in Q4 2017) than for man (10.5 percent from 10.8 percent). Meanwhile, the employment rate advanced to 56.6 percent from 55.4 percent a year ago while the economic activity rate went up to 62.4 percent from 61.5 percent. In the third quarter of 2018, the jobless rate was lower at 8 percent.
