Palestine Trade Deficit Narrows in March
Palestine's trade deficit narrowed to USD 363 million in March 2019 from USD 370 million in the same month of the previous year. Imports fell 2 percent to USD 457 million, with purchases from Israel accounting for 58 percent of total imports. Meantime, exports decreased at a slower 1 percent to USD 93.8 million. Sales to Israel represented 84 percent of total exports. Considering the first quarter as a whole, the trade deficit widened to USD 1.16 billion from USD 1.09 billion in the same period of 2018.

Palestine's trade deficit widened to USD 376.1 million in February 2019 from USD 339.6 million in the same month of the previous year. Imports went up 6 percent year-on-year to USD 459.8 million. Purchases from Israel represented 59 percent of total imports in February. Meantime, exports plunged 13 percent from a year ago to USD 83.7 million. Sales to Israel accounted for 89 percent of total exports. Considering the first two months of the year, the trade deficit widened to USD 796.1 million from USD 722.9 million in the same period of 2018.

Palestinian Trade Gap Largest since 2011
Palestine's trade deficit widened to USD 420 million in January 2019 from USD 383.3 million in the same month of the previous year. It was the largest trade gap since March 2011, as exports fell while imports rose. Imports went up 8 percent year-on-year to USD 502.7 million. Purchases from Israel represented 55 percent of total imports in January. Meantime, exports edged down 0.2 percent from a year ago to USD 82.7 million. Sales to Israel accounted for 88 percent of total exports.

Palestine's trade deficit widened to USD 395.2 million in December 2018 from USD 373.9 million in the same month of the previous year. Imports went up 6 percent year-on-year to USD 495.4 million. Purchases from Israel represented 57 percent of total imports in December. Meantime, exports rose a softer 5 percent from a year ago to USD 100.2 million. Sales to Israel accounted for 86 percent of total exports.
