Producer prices in Jordan dropped 2.4 percent year-on-year in July of 2019, following a revised flat reading in the previous month and marking the second decline in producer prices so far this year. Cost fell further for manufacturing (-3.0 percent vs -0.9 percent in June) and electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning supply (-4.5 percent vs -3.8 percent) while mining & quarrying output rose at a much softer pace (5.5 percent vs 12.8 percent). On a monthly basis, producer prices fell 2.1 percent, following a 0.6 percent decrease in June.

Producer prices in Jordan increased 0.1 percent year-on-year in June of 2019, below a 1.5 percent rise in the previous month. It was the smallest producer inflation since February, as cost fell for manufacturing (-0.8 percent vs 1.1 percent in May) and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (-3.8 percent vs -2.1 percent). On the other hand, mining & quarrying prices advanced faster (12.8 percent vs 8.3 percent). On a monthly basis, producer prices fell 0.6 percent, after a 0.6 percent rise in May.

Jordan Producer Prices Fall for First Time in Over a Year
Producer prices in Jordan decreased 1.0 percent year-on-year in February 2019, after a 1.4 percent rise in the previous month. It marked the first fall in producer prices since June 2017, as cost dropped for manufacturing (-2.0 percent from 0.1 percent in January), namely food products (-2.1 percent from 8.1 percent), refined petroleum (-9.6 percent from -8.1 percent) and fabricated metals (-2.5 percent from 1.9 percent); and for electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning (-4.0 percent from -2.6 percent). Meantime, prices rose at a softer pace for mining & quarrying (12.8 percent from 19.2 percent), due to chemical & fertilizer minerals (13.6 percent from 20.4 percent). On a monthly basis, producer prices increased 0.2 percent, rebounding from a 0.3 percent decline in January.

Producer prices in Jordan increased 4.5 percent year-on-year in December of 2018, below a 9.1 percent rise in the previous month. It was the smallest producer inflation since January, as cost slowed sharply for manufacturing (3.8 percent from 9 percent in November), namely refined petroleum products (2.7 percent from 24.7 percent); chemicals & chemical products (8.1 percent from 9.9 percent) and basic metals (6.6 percent from 7.6 percent). In addition, prices increased at a softer pace for mining & quarrying (22.5 percent from 24.1 percent), due to chemical and fertilizer minerals (22.9 percent from 24.7 percent), while cost fell further for electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning supply (-8.9 percent from -8 percent). On a monthly basis, producer prices dropped 3 percent, after a 0.5 percent gain in November.
