The number of people registered as out of work in mainland France dropped by 56.6 thousand from the previous month to 3.550 million in October 2020, remaining well above pre-pandemic levels, as the labor market continued to recover from the coronavirus shock. Unemployment among people aged 25 to 49 decreased by 38.5 thousand to 2.107 million, and that among young people went down by 12.1 thousand to 0.485 million. Also, unemployment among those aged 50 or more fell by 6.0 thousand to 0.958 million. The number of people registered as out of work in mainland France dropped by 15.2 thousand from the previous month to 3.606 million in September 2020, remaining well above pre-pandemic levels, as the labor market recovery from the pandemic shock showed signs of slowing amid a resurgence in COVID-19 cases. Meanwhile, unemployment among those aged 50 or more rose by 6.4 thousand to 0.964 million.
