The annual harmonised inflation rate in Cyprus eased for the fifth straight month to 7.6 percent in December of 2022, from 8.1 percent in the previous month. Prices rose at a softer pace for food & non-alcoholic beverages (12.6 percent vs 15.1 percent), alcoholic beverages & tobacco (1.6 percent vs 2.2 percent), transport (8.3 percent vs 9.4 percent) and housing & utilities (17.2 percent vs 17.6 percent). On the other hand, price growth decreased for communication (-3.8 percent vs -2.5 percent), while cost advanced faster for restaurants & hotels (8.9 percent vs 8.2 percent), clothing & footwear (0.5 percent vs 0.2 percent) and health (0.9 percent vs 0.8 percent).
