The industrial confidence index in Colombia fell further to -35.8 in April of 2020 from -35 in the previous month. It was the lowest reading on record, as many businesses were forced to halt operations amid the imposed lockdown to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus. Accordingly, there was a sharp decline in the current level of orders (-58.2 vs -45.1 in March) while the stock of finished products continued to rise (29.4 vs 16.5). On the other hand, output expectations for the next quarter improved (-19.7 vs -43.3).

The industrial confidence index in Colombia slipped to -35.0 in March of 2020 from 9.8 in the previous month. It was the lowest reading since the survey began in January of 1980, amid the effects of a five-week lockdown meant to curb the spread of the coronavirus. There was a decline in the current level of orders (-45.1 vs -5.3 in February) and a deterioration in output expectations for the next quarter (-43.3 vs 32.7). Meanwhile, the stock of finished products increased (16.5 vs -2.0).
