The jobless rate in Chile rose to 7.1 percent in the three months to May 2019 from 7.0 percent in the same period of the previous year. The number of unemployed increased by 2.9 percent to 648 thousand while the number of employed grew at a softer 1.4 percent to 8.508 million. Across sectors, employment rose mostly in public administration (8.0 percent), education (4.1 percent) and health (6.0 percent).
