Bulgaria Tourist Arrivals Rise 9.1% in January
The number of visitors from abroad to Bulgaria rose 9.1 percent from a year earlier to 604.6 thousand in January 2020, boosted by trips with all observed purposes: holiday & recreation (8.3 percent); professional (3.6 percent); and other purposes, including guest and passing transit (12.4 percent). Visitors rose from Turkey (+22.7 percent); Romania (+15.1 percent); Macedonia (+6.6 percent), Serbia (+5.5 percent) and Ukraine (+21.5 percent). The number of visitors from abroad to Bulgaria increased 6.0 percent year-on-year to 609.7 thousand in November 2019, boosted by trips with all observed purposes: holiday & recreation (9.1 percent); professional (1.7 percent); and other purpose, including guest and passing transit (5.7 percent). Visits increased from Turkey (25.1 percent), the UK (19.0 percent), Italy (13.6 percent), Germany (10.2 percent), Poland (7.9 percent), and France (3.0 percent); while a decline was recorded in arrivals from Austria (-5.8 percent), Greece (-5.7 percent), the Netherlands (-1.8 percent), and Romania (-1.3 percent).
