The number of visitors from abroad to Bulgaria slumped 67.9 percent from a year earlier to 747.1 thousand in August of 2020, amid the ongoing pandemic crisis. Declines were seen in the trips with all observed purposes, namely holiday & recreation (-81.6 percent); professional (-60.6 percent) and others including as guest and passing transit (-47.6 percent). The number of visitors from the EU went down 67.4 percent and accounted to 63.1 percent of the total.

The number of visitors from abroad to Bulgaria declined 66.1 percent from a year earlier to 705.6 thousand in July of 2020, amid the continuing epidemic situation in the country. Bulgaria Tourist Arrivals Rise 9.1% in January
The number of visitors from abroad to Bulgaria rose 9.1 percent from a year earlier to 604.6 thousand in January 2020, boosted by trips with all observed purposes: holiday & recreation (8.3 percent); professional (3.6 percent); and other purposes, including guest and passing transit (12.4 percent). Visitors rose from Turkey (+22.7 percent); Romania (+15.1 percent); Macedonia (+6.6 percent), Serbia (+5.5 percent) and Ukraine (+21.5 percent). In contrast, visitors fell from Greece (-4.7 percent); the UK (-9.3 percent) and Belgium (-19.8 percent).
