The official currency of Belgium is the Euro. The euro hit a four-week low of $1.212 on Thursday afternoon, after the accounts of the ECB monetary policy meeting showed policymakers considered a smaller increase in emergency bond purchases last month, while saying that the PEPP envelope may not be used in full. This followed optimistic comments made by ECB President Christine Lagarde on Wednesday as she said the central bank's projections for 2021 growth were still very clearly plausible even with much of the 19-member Euro Area in lockdown. Elsewhere, traders awaited details on a massive package of fiscal stimulus to be delivered in the US.
