Russian jobless rate unexpectedly increased to 5.8 percent in November from 5.5 percent in October and above market expectations of 5.6 percent. It is the highest rate since April, as the number of unemployed people edged up while economically active declined.
The number of unemployed people increased by 180 thousand to 4435 thousand in November. A year earlier, the figure was 3937 thousand.
The number of economically active people decreased by 0.19 million to 76.6 million (53 percent of population) in November. Compared to November of 2014 the figure increased by 1.1 thousand.
Nominal wages rose 4.6 percent year-on-year to an average RUB 33857 (+3.4 percent in October) and real pay fell 9.0 percent after dropping by 10.5 percent in the previous month. Real disposable income shrank 5.4 percent (-5.3 percent in October).
