Hungary Inflation Rate Steady at 0.9% in November

In November of 2013, Hungarian annual CPI remained stable at 0.9 percent, the same rate recorded in October, as prices of electricity and natural gas decreased 10 percent due to new fees. Core annual inflation rate was recorded at 3.5 percent.

Year-on-year, food prices grew by 0.4 percent. Price increases were observed for cheese (8.2 percent), milk (6.0 percent) and pork (2.2 percent). Price decreases were observed for flour (17.6 percent), egg (13.7 percent) and sugar (11.5 percent). The price increase of services was higher than the average (4.0 percent).

Cost of water charges, sewerage disposal and refuse disposal decreased about 11 percent and local transport grew by 4.9 percent. Consumers paid 1.8 percent less for durable goods, 1.2 percent less for clothing and footwear and 0.4 percent less for other goods. In the case of electricity, gas and other fuels prices decreased by 10.3 percent. 

On a monthly basis, prices decreased 0.1 percent in November, due to a fall in prices of food, electricity, gas and water.
