Irish Jobless Rate Lowest Since December 2008


Irish seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was recorded at 8.9 percent in November of 2015, unchanged from the revised October rate and down from 10.4 percent a year earlier. The unemployment rate remained the lowest in seven years, as the number of unemployed fell slightly.

The seasonally adjusted number of persons unemployed was 191,700 in November, a decrease of 700 when compared to the previous month figure or a decrease of 32,100 when compared to the previous year.

While seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for males decreased to 10.1 percent from 10.2 percent in the previous month, for females it remained unchanged at 7.3 percent. The number of males unemployed declined by 1,000 to 125,900 from 120,700, while the number of females unemployed rose slightly by 300 to 71,000.

Youth unemployment rate was 19.5 percent, down from 19.8 percent in October.
