Mexico GDP Growth Slows in Q3


The Mexican economy advanced 0.5 percent on quarter in the three months to September of 2014, down from a revised 1 percent increase in the previous period due to lower production in industry and services.

Quarter-on-quarter, agriculture expanded at a faster 2.52 percent from 2.05 percent in the previous three months. The industrial sector slowed the most in the third quarter growing by 0.43 percent from 0.89 percent in the previous period. The services sector rose 0.5 percent, down from 0.93 percent in the preceding three months. 

Year-on-year, the economy expanded at a faster 2.2 percent from 1.6 percent in the second quarter. 

Considering the first nine months of 2014, the GDP grew 1.9 percent. The central bank expects it to be between 2 and 2.5 percent in 2014.
