Russian Economy Expands 1.2% YoY in Q3


In the third quarter of 2013, Russia's GDP increased 1.2 percent on an annual basis, the same growth rate as in the previous three-month period.

While trade shrank by 1.3 percent yoy after growing 0.8 percent in the previous quarter, construction negative growth eased to -0.3 percent, from -3.9 percent in the preceding three-month period.

In contrast, manufacturing and transport and communication accelerated to 0.5 percent and 0.6 percent respectively, recovering from a -1.2 and -0.1 percent contraction in the previous quarter. Agricultural expanded 1.2 percent yoy. 

Extraction of raw materials and real estate operations slowed to 4.3 percent and 0.3 percent respectively (4.5 percent and 1 percent respectively in the June quarter). 

Official forecasts expect the economy to grow 1.4 percent in 2013.
