South Korea Inflation Rate Edges Up in October


South Korean annual inflation rate accelerated for the first time in five months to 1.2 percent in October of 2014 from 1.1 percent in the previous month. On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell for the second straight month.

Cost of agricultural, livestock and fisheries products fell 1.9 percent year-on-year; cost of industrial goods increased 0.6 percent and prices of services rose 1.7 percent. Cost of fresh food decreased 6.6 percent. 

On a monthly basis, consumer prices dropped 0.3 percent, following a 0.1 percent fall in the previous month.

Annual core inflation rate slowed for the second consecutive month to 1.8 percent from 1.9 percent in September.
