Germany Inflation Rate Steady in October


The inflation rate in Germany is expected to remain stable at 0.8 percent in October of 2014. Yet, preliminary estimates showed monthly inflation falling to -0.3 percent, the lowest rate since the beginning of the year.

Prices of services are expected to accelerate further to 1.7 percent, from a 1.5 percent increase in September. In contrast, food cost is estimated to slow (0.7 percent versus 0.9 percent in the previous month) and energy prices are expected to fall at a faster 2.3 percent. 

The harmonized consumer price index for Germany, which is calculated for European purposes, is expected to increase by 0.7 percent in October 2014 on October 2013. Compared with September 2014, it is expected to be down by 0.3 percent.
