Mexico Inflation Rate Down to 3.39% In September


In September of 2013, Mexican annual inflation rate eased for the second consecutive month to 3.39 percent, from 3.46 percent in the previous month, mainly due to a drop in food prices.

The highest year-on-year price increases were registered for transport (6.56 percent, from 6.53 percent in August), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (5.03 percent) and miscellaneous goods and services (4.44 percent). Cost of food eased in September to 2.4 percent, from 3.75 percent in August and communication prices dropped 3.44 percent. 

The core index, which strips out some volatile food and energy prices, accelerated to 0.32 percent, from 0.09 percent in August.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.38 percent.
