Swiss Jobless Rate Steady in September


Swiss unadjusted unemployment rate remained unchanged at 3.2 percent in September of 2015 from the previous month and below market expectations though the number of jobseekers and unemployed were up.

In September, there were 138,226 unemployed persons enrolled at the regional employment centers, about 1,243 more persons than in the previous month. Compared to the same month a year earlier, unemployment increased by 8,261 persons (+6.4 percent). 

The number of jobseekers reached 196,042 in September 2015, more 3,373 persons than in the previous month and 12,929 more than a year earlier (+7.1 percent).

Youth unemployment (15 to 24 year old) increased by 59 persons (+ 0.3 percent) to 20'618. Compared with the previous month, this represents an increase of 1,138 people (+ 5.8 percent).
