Irish Unemployment Rate Declines in September


Irish seasonally adjusted jobless rate decreased to 9.4 percent in September of 2015 from 9.5 percent in the previous three months. The unemployment rate reached a fresh 7-year low, due to a slight drop in the number of unemployed. A year ago the unemployment rate was recorded at 10.9 percent.

The seasonally adjusted number of persons unemployed was 205,300 in September 2015, a decrease of 800 when compared to the August 2015 figure or a decrease of 28,100 when compared to September 2014.

While seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for males decreased to 10.5 percent from 10.6 percent in the previous month, for females it remained unchanged at 8.1 percent. The number of males unemployed declined by 800 to 125,900 from 126,700, while the number of females unemployed remained unchanged at 79,400.

Youth unemployment rate was 20.6 percent, down from 20.7 percent in August.
