Germany Inflation Rate Stable at 0.8%


The inflation rate in Germany is expected to stand at 0.8 percent for the third consecutive month in September of 2014. While energy prices keep falling, cost of food and services increase slightly.

Preliminary estimates showed prices of services are expected to increase 1.5 percent, slightly up from a 1.4 percent increase in August and food cost is estimated to accelerate to 0.9 percent (0.3 percent in August). In contrast, energy prices are expected to fall at a faster 2.2 percent. 

On a monthly basis, consumer prices are expected to remain flat.

The harmonized consumer price index for Germany, which is calculated for European purposes, is expected to increase by 0.8 percent in September 2014 on September 2013. Compared with August 2014 it is also expected to remain unchanged.
