Ireland Jobless Rate Steady at 8.3% in August


Ireland unemployment rate was recorded at 8.3 percent in August of 2016, unchanged from the revised July data and down from 9.1 percent a year earlier. The number of unemployed persons fell to 181.6 thousand, a decrease of 1.7 thousand and 15.4 thousand compared to July 2016 and the August 2015, respectively.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for males was unchanged at 9.5 percent and for females went down to 6.8 percent from 6.9 percent. The number of males unemployed dropped by 600 to 114,200, while the number of females unemployed declined by 1,100 to 68,000.

Youth unemployment rate was recorded at 17.1 percent, down from 17.7 percent in the previous month.
