Mexican Economy Advances 1% QoQ in Q2


Mexico’s GDP expanded a quarter-on-quarter seasonally adjusted 1 percent in the April to June period, up from a revised 0.4 percent increase in the previous quarter and driven by the industrial and services sectors.

Agricultural production slowed in the second quarter (0.9 percent versus 1.1 percent in the first three months of 2014). In contrast, the services sector accelerated the most (1.07 percent compared with 0.37 percent) while industrial output advanced at a faster 1 percent (0.4 percent in the previous period). 

Year-on-year, the GDP increased 1.6 percent, slowing from a revised 1.9 percent expansion in the previous quarter. 

Considering the first half of 2014, the economy expanded 1.7 percent.
