Portugal GDP Expands 0.4% in Q2

The Portuguese economy advanced 0.4 percent on quarter in the three months to June, the same as in the previous period but below market expectations. While domestic demand continued to be the main driver of growth, net external demand dragged the expansion down, preliminary estimates showed.

It was the fifth straight quarter of expansion supported by a rise in domestic demand.

Year-on-year, the GDP advanced 1.5 percent, the same pace as in the previous period, as the expansion of both domestic demand and investments were enough to offset the deterioration of the net external demand.
