The most notable changes in the year were increases in alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+6.2 percent), education (+4.8 percent) and food and non-alcoholic beverages (+2.0 percent). There were decreases in furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-3.3 percent), clothing and footwear (-2.9 percent) and communications (-2.1 percent).
The annual rate of inflation for services was 1.4 percent, while the overall index for goods showed no change. Services prices excluding mortgage interest repayments, increased 2.3 percent.
The EU Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices decreased by 0.1 percent on a monthly basis and was up 0.7 percent year-on-year.
