Australia's Jobless Rate Rises to 6.3% in July

Australia's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased to 6.3 percent in July of 2015 from an upwardly revised 6.1 percent reported in the previous month and above market consensus. The economy added 38,500 jobs and the number of unemployed increased by 40,100.

The seasonally adjusted labour force participation rate increased to 65.8 percent from 64.8 percent in June.

Employment increased to 11,810,700: full-time employment rose by 12,400 to 8,170,400 and part-time employment was up by 26,100 to 3,640,300.

Unemployment increased by 40,100 to 800,700. The number of unemployed persons looking for full-time work increased 23,600 to 568,100 and the number of unemployed persons only looking for part-time work decreased by 16,500 to 232,600.

Seasonally adjusted aggregate monthly hours worked series decreased 3.4 million hours (-0.2 percent) to 1,633.2 million hours.
