Italian GDP Falls Less Than Expected in Q2
In the second quarter of 2013, Italian GDP shrank 0.2 percent quarter-on-quarter following a 0.6 percent contraction in the first quarter, indicating that the country's economy may have reached the trough.
The quarterly drop was the smallest since the fourth quarter of 2011.
On a year over year basis, the economy contracted 2 percent.
The acquired growth at the end of the second quarter was registered at -1.7 percent. This means that if GDP posts a flat quarterly reading in the two remaining periods of the year, 2013's GDP will be down 1.7 percent from the previous year.
