Euro Area Inflation Rate Stable in July


Euro area consumer prices are expected to rise by 0.2% in July 2015, the same as in June 2015, according to a flash estimate from Eurostat. It is the third consecutive month with positive annual inflation rate. While cost of services rose the most in a year, energy prices declined further.

Looking at the main components of euro area inflation, services is expected to have the highest annual rate in July (1.2%, compared with 1.1% in June), followed by food, alcohol & tobacco (0.9%, compared with 1.1% in June), non-energy industrial goods (0.5%, compared with 0.3% in June) and energy (-5.6%, compared with -5.1% in June).

Core inflation rate which excludes prices of energy, food, alcohol and tobacco is expected to reach 1 percent compared to 0.8 percent in June. Excluding energy, consumer prices rose 0.9 percent, the same as in the previous month.
