Spain GDP Growth at 8-Year High

The Spanish economy advanced 1 percent on quarter in the three months to June 2015, accelerating from a 0.9 percent expansion in the previous period and in line with market expectations.

The economy posted its eighth consecutive quarter of growth, the highest since the first quarter of 2007, according to preliminary estimates.

Year-on-year, the GDP expanded 3.1 percent in the second quarter of 2015, accelerating from a 2.7 percent increase in the previous period, also matching forecasts.

The government raised its growth forecasts earlier in July. The economy is expected to expand 3.3 percent in 2015 and 3 percent in 2016 from a previous 2.9 percent estimate for both years.
