German Inflation Rate Slows in July


Consumer prices in Germany are expected to increase 0.8 percent year-on-year in July of 2014, after rising 1 percent in June. It is the lowest rate since February of 2010 as energy prices fell at a faster rate.

Preliminary estimates showed prices of services are expected to increase 1.5 percent, slowing from a 1.6 percent rise in June. Food cost is expected to increase 0.1 percent while energy prices are expected to fall at a faster 1.5 percent.

On a monthly basis, provisional figures showed that consumer prices are expected to increase 0.3 percent in July, the same rate recorded in June. 

The harmonized consumer price index for Germany is expected to increase by 0.8 percent in July 2014 on July 2013. Compared with June 2014, it is expected to be up 0.3 percent.
